Remember the Monkees? Of course you do! In the sixties Micky Dolenz, Davy Jones, Mike Nesmith and Peter Tork starred in the famous TV series about a pop group and eventually turned into a pop group themselves, thereby becoming the first boy band in the world. The Monkees made a massive impact on the entertainment industry and in 2011 they celebrated their 45th anniversary.
This book started out as an interview with Peter Tork and developed into a complete biography on the Monkees. The main focus is placed on the Monkees' visual works, especially the TV show, the feature film "HEAD" and the TV special "33 1/3 Revolutions Per Monkee", which are all submitted to thorough analyses. Furthermore the book includes an annotated discography, accounts of the many concert tours as well as an annotated listing of each episode of the show and a biography for further reading.
"The Monkees - caught in a false image" was first published in 2001 as a paper book, but is now available as an ebook in this fully updated version, telling the Monkees' story from the beginning in August 1965 to the tragic death of Davy Jones in February 2012.

This book is loaded, absolutely loaded with information. It seems to be extensively researched and organized (albeit in a kind of unusual way, but it works). To be honest, the editing/proofreading is not well done, and you will find numerous spelling errors. But, if you can look over that and are a major Monkees fan, you'll get a lot of "technical" group and show information, including a complete list of every episode with detailed descriptions. Not a massive amount of personal info, although it is present to a point. I'm not sure if the author is a fan because she seems very unemotional about the guys, for the most part. Or perhaps she is just trying to remain objective.Occasionally, you'll see something, especially during her acknowledgements at the end when she thanks Peter for his assistance. Overall, not a bad reference book for any Monkees fan's library.Product details

Don't bother. There are so many other books to chose from that are better constructed, and more personal. Had a few stories I'd never heard, though.
It was fun to read about the origin of the Monkees, and some of episodes. I, particularly liked reading about original of the songs chosen for the albums. The ony negative was too much of the book was about the movie "Head".
This is another ebook to own. I know there are a lot of books on the monkees but another cool book to read . Plenty of info from other books. Buy it you won't be dissapionted a real addition to your monkees library
This was an interesting read. There were a few new pieces of information. The organization of topics was a bit different than you see in other biographies of the Monkees.
This book was obviously a labor of love for the author. It covers the Monkees in more detail than just about any other book I've read on them, even detailing each individual track of every album, the post-TV series reunions and much more. If you are as big a fan of the "Pre-fab Four" as I am, I highly recommend it.
Someone said that they kept falling asleep while reading this one. I should've listened. Ms Falkenberg kept referencing a previously written book. I should've read that one.
It gives detail account of the shows as if their personal stories, it is very reliable and I enjoyed it
